FFVII Remake Deluxe Edition Unboxing & Datablitz Issues During Quarantine in PH

After years of anticipation, it's finally here!

Watch the video:

I'd like to offer my thanks to Datablitz for finally noticing me. For those who didn't know, Datablitz, one of the major game suppliers here in the Ph, kinda bit off more than they can chew during quarantine in the country.

Datablitz E-Commerce Website

They launched their online store to continue the business but then they couldn't smoothly handle the surge of orders they received. If you check their Facebook, there's a ton of complaints in the comments section on various posts regarding online orders.

Datablitz Complaints

But you know, it's partly their fault for heavily advertising online that lead to the surge of orders, but I think we should give them a bit of slack. These are trying times, and obviously they (1) need to earn money for the livelihood of those involved, (2) are undermanned and working with just a skeletal staff, and (3) getting a partner courier able to deliver these products across the country that's crammed with checkpoints, I imagine, is a hard thing to do.

It's even a miracle they're able to sell and deliver games at all as they aren't considered essentials. And we all know that delivery people can only cross borders only if the products they're delivering are food, water, medicine and the like.

Here's a summary from pre-ordering up to the delivery of the game to my doorstep:

  • October 2019: Pre-ordered at their Ayala Feliz branch and paid P800
  • March 3: FF7R's initial release date but was moved to April 10
  • March 15: Quarantine in Luzon hit, closing malls and businesses
  • April 11: A day after the official release, Datablitz apologizes while explaining their situation
  • April 12: Standard Ed. will be shipped earlier and gave me an option to switch. I maintained my Deluxe order
  • April 20: Good news! My order could be shipped around late April to early May
  • April 24: I got a link that would let me pay my remaining balance. Link was broken
  • April 28: 4 days later, there was a back and forth talk between me and Datablitz, and I was now issued with a working link and code. Paid P3,495 and immediately sent proof of payment
  • May 5: Item has been shipped. A few hours later, someone knocked on our gate and there it was!

Screenshots of these emails are provided in the video above.

There were a couple of hiccups with Datablitz here and there, but in the end I'm glad I still got the game earlier than expected. Since the quarantine is extended to May 15, and who knows if it'll get extended further, I already accepted that I was only gonna be able to play the game around June. So with that, we're cool, Datablitz. We're good.

Anyway, here we are!

Final Fantasy VII- the legendary Japanese role-playing game that rocked the lives of millions back in 1997. FF7 gained so much popularity that it made the Final Fantasy series a major franchise. A game so famous that it's still being heavily talked about decades after.

FF7 vs. FF7R

In an interview, the Remake project began when Final Fantasy producer Shinji Hashimoto broached the subject to Kitase, Nojima, and Nomura. All three were reaching a stage of life that they defined as "that age": all felt that if they waited much longer, they might not be alive or would be too old to develop a remake, and passing the project on to a new generation did not feel right.

Fast forward to 2015, the remake was officially announced after much rumors and speculation. And after 23 years of the original, the remake was finally released last April 10, 2020!
